CHARLES WYNNE WHITEHURST, 54 Detective
WINTER HAVEN - Charles Wynne Whitehurst, 54, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale due to a stroke as a result of an auto accident. Charles was born March 7, 1954 in Lake Wales. He attended Andrew College, where he was elected "Mr. Andrew"; and graduated from Georgia Southern University with a B.A. in criminal justice and was a Kappa Alpha. He was a detective for the Polk County Sheriff's Office and a member of the Lake Wales Methodist Church. He was an avid Gator fan and loved water sports. Charles was preceded in death by his father, George Leon Whitehurst, Sr. Survivors include his mother, Anita Whitehurst of Lake Wales; brothers, George Whitehurst of Winter Haven and Joseph Richard Whitehurst of Apopka. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd with Father Thomas C. Seitz officiating.
