Ric Jahna C/O 1989

The Ohio State University Press and the MFA Program in Creative Writing at OSU are pleased to announce that Ric Jahna's collection True Kin: Stories has been selected as the winner of the 2007 Ohio State University Prize in Short Fiction. The OSU Press will publish True Kin in the Spring of 2008.

 
Recipient of an AWP Intro Journals Award in 2004, Ric Jahna is currently working on his Ph.D. in Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. He is a graduate of the MFA program at the University of Arizona, in Tucson (2005) and holds an MA in English and American Literature from the University of South Florida, Tampa (2003).

His stories have previously appeared in Gowanus, Mid-American Review, Green Hills Literary Lantern, and The Weekly Planet. His work is also scheduled to appear in forthcoming issues of the South Carolina Review, the Oyster Boy Review, Eclipse, and SmokeLong Quarterly.

Over 350 manuscripts were submitted for this year’s competition. The other finalists were Armand Inezian of Roslindale, MA, for "Bringing Ararat" and Peter Selgin of The Bronx, NY, for "Bodies of Water."
