"You are the meaning of a high school. You are a cheer, a frown, a smile, a new dress. You wear madras, you join in, you make a reputation. You have a place. You are a crowd. You are a handshake. You are a player. You are a tradition. You are the Spirit of Lake Wales High School." - (an excerpt from 1964 Crown Jewel)
One of the reasons Lake Wales High School has such a strong community and sense of pride is because the alumni work hard to promote it.
The Lake Wales Highlander Band has been an integral part of this school spirit through the years. They have earned a reputation as a superior band under the leadership of many fine directors.
The following are school songs performed under the direction of Tom Bishop who taught his band members cooperation, discipline, responsibility, pride, and a great deal about life.
